Who We Are

About Gramatan Village: Vibrant Aging. At Home. Your Own Way.

Gramatan Village is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that supports adults ages 55 and up who want to age in the home and neighborhood that they love. We support empowered aging-in-community with a network of volunteers, experts, professional referrals, and peer connections that enable members to stay independent, vital, and engaged as they grow older. At Gramatan Village, members receive services such as transportation to local appointments, referrals to vetted community partners, technology support, home maintenance support, home safety checks, assistance in financial planning and in navigating Medicare/Medicaid, workshop and seminar offerings, priority consideration for skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, support groups, counseling, volunteer opportunities, as well as social and cultural outings. www.gramatanvillage.org.

National Village Movement

Gramatan Village engages community residents who want to remain in the home and neighborhood they love. Our founders had strong connections to the community and a vision that older residents should participate fully in all aspects of life to the best of their ability.

They were inspired by an article that appeared in the New York Times in 2006 which highlighted the work of Beacon Hill Village in Boston. With determination and commitment, our founders made their vision a reality with the establishment of Gramatan Village in 2008.

Gramatan Village supports aging-in-community with a network of volunteers, Community Partners and peer connections that enable members to stay independent and engaged in the community. Gramatan Village, the first aging-in-community organization in Westchester County, is now recognized as a leader in the National Village Movement - a growing nationwide trend of grassroots organizations that develop creative strategies to address local needs.

The village model is based on empowerment, providing options and choices, and is a single point of contact for access to referrals and volunteers. Gramatan Village has grown to be a valuable community resource for our members and their families. We have a professional staff supported by an active volunteer corps. Gramatan Village volunteers are local residents (many of whom are Gramatan Village members) who freely donate their time and directly support members by providing rides, running errands, and handling household chores.

We serve that very special group of people who have contributed so much to our communities and want to continue living here. We give our members a world of possibilities by helping them redefine what it means to get older while living in comfort and safety.
